Residents and guests had a fun night out at our Spring Fling Theme Party and Dinner this last week. The pre-party began at 4:30pm with cocktails and dancing to The Silver Tops Band. Many residents got out on the floor throughout the evening, as the music was mostly waltzes and slow musical favorites from the 40’s and 50’s. Betty and Harry Gilbert, shown below, were celebrating 71 years of marriage by dancing to “The Anniversary Waltz”. Everyone cheered and clapped! The tables were decorated with marigolds, periwinkles, petunias, and celosia in multi-colored striped pots, along with money-wort cascading plants decorated with May Day Spring miniature poles and rustic bird houses. Everyone proceeded into the dining room for the Spring Dinner. The Salad Bar was decorated with colorful parasols and tables were filled with Spring watering cans in pink, blue, green and yellow or mason jars in those colors, all full of colorful spring flowers. Tables also included birds native to Oklahoma, that when pressed made the actual sounds the birds make. The dinner consisted of Spring Salad Greens with Strawberries, Feta Cheese and Pecans. The entrée was Wild Rice stuffed Cornish Game Hens accompanied by a Butternut Squash dish that was delicious. Chef Chris rounded out the evening preparing a Bananas Foster flaming dessert in the dining room…served over Vanilla Ice Cream, which was of course a big hit!!
