We held our first annual Alzheimer’s Hoe Down in June, raising over $3,800 to donate to the Alzheimer’s Association. Many thanks go out to those that organized and planned this successful event. Mary Shrum, The Inn and Gardens Program Coordinator, surrounded herself with several folks who gave their time and skills to help make this happen: Eddie and our Maintenance Crew, Ann, Trish, Tracey, Amy, Khristin, & Wanda. Others we would like to acknowledge are Alliance Healthcare, Synergy, OK Hospice, Health Back Home, Integris Hospice, Crawford & Ford Funeral Home.
Two bands played on stage throughout the evening; many vendors set up tables to sell their products and donate to the cause; Dining Services prepared BBQ and all the side dishes; ice cream sundaes were provided by Freddy’s. There was face painting, a photo booth where guests could dress up and have their pictures taken, flavored slushes, cream sodas & root beer in bottles, popcorn, plus several donated baskets that were put up for auction, along with cakes and pies. Even though it was a hot evening, residents and guests came for the festivities and enjoyed the music, the food, and the fair-like atmosphere.
