Residents in our memory care decided they wanted to cook their own Thanksgiving dinner two weeks prior to the holiday dinner served here at the community. Mary Shrum, Program Coordinator for The Inn and Gardens, bought all the fixins for a traditional Thanksgiving Dinner and residents jumped right in and prepared it themselves. Mary assisted while resident Inez prepared the dressing and stuffed it into the turkey herself. Everyone reminisced about Thanksgiving dinners they had prepared for their families throughout their lives and the variety of traditional recipes they fixed that were handed down by their ancestors. They all concluded it was a huge success and this may become an annual tradition here at Canterbury!
