Resident and Associate Christmas Parties

On the nineteenth of December, the week before Christmas, the directors and managers spent the day going to five of our buildings spreading holiday cheer to all of our residents in every level of care. We started in the morning at The Springs, singing familiar Christmas carols and serving Christmas cookies and punch. Santa showed up just as we sang, “Santa Claus is Coming to Town”. The Springs resident’s eyes lit up and you could see huge smiles across the room. After visiting with the residents in The Springs a while, we went to both memory care buildings. We sang again in the first building while everyone sang along, remembering most of the words. Associates served green Christmas tree cookies and lemonade, as Santa entered the room. Everyone wanted a hug, and one resident yelled out to Santa as he approached her, “Ho, Ho, Ho, Santa!” Residents in the other house were just as happy to sing along and pose with Santa for pictures.

At 2:00pm we headed for The Inn to visit with and entertain the assisted living residents. Associates all wore different reindeer, Santa, snowman, and angel headbands or hats. We passed out jingle bells, tambourines, and maracas for all to play along with the songs, as we did in the other buildings. Again we served colorful Christmas cookies, some baked by Inn family members and others donated by Home Health agencies. Santa walked around visiting with all The Inn residents, giving lots of hugs.

Finally, at 4:00pm, we all gathered at the Town Center to sing Christmas songs with the Independent Living residents. Everyone knew the words and sang along with us. We also had a solo performance by Amy, Marketing Director; Cody, Executive Director; and Nakia, Director of Resident Care at The Inn. They sang a beautiful rendition of “O Holy Night” that drew a huge round of applause from the residents. Associates passed out an assortment of Christmas cookies donated by Synergy Home Care, along with apple cider.  Santa Chris (Admissions Coordinator in The Springs) danced to “Santa Claus is Coming to Town” and did a very different version than Santa Dustin (Assistant Director of Nurses in The Springs) who was present at the earlier parties. Both did a great job and we appreciate their patience and know how hot it was to wear the suit! Several Town Center ladies wanted their pictures with Santa…or on Santa’s lap. Mrs. Claus, played by our HR Director, Wanda Smith, joined in all the pictures and merriment throughout the day! Santa passed out the new 2018 Expressions Calendars from Watermark, which features our own Jeanne Kleinschmidt’s oil painting of a scene in Colorado, which she calls “Serenity”…she won one of the twelve featured pages in the calendar…the month of May. It was a fun day for both residents and associates, a time to show our love and appreciation to all!
