Resident Jane Lepak is Enjoying her Easy Life at The Fountains

It’s time to enjoy the lifestyle you’ve earned.

“I can choose to be alone and I like my privacy but I have total confidence in that if anything happened to me I’m able to get help immediately and that just makes a huge difference for me.” – Jane Lepak, resident of The Fountains at Canterbury

You can learn a lot from someone who has been in your shoes. Their honest insight can help you navigate your way to the place that’s right for you, regardless of which community you choose. Jane Lepak will be the first to tell you that the decision to move to a retirement community isn’t easy, at least it wasn’t for her. It comes with some trepidation. However, when you muster the courage to do it, your future will be paved with rewards. Jane’s move to The Fountains in 2014 was a breeze, thanks to professional packing and unpacking services. Now, in addition to involvement in her church and professional organizations, she also enjoys classes at the community and taking cruises. As a Fountains’ Ambassador, she loves helping new residents get acclimated and will never forget her gratitude when a neighbor made her feel welcome that first week with a loaf of homemade bread.

Wanting to explore your retirement living alternatives has nothing to do with your age. It has everything to do with your situation. How well situated are you, right now, to live your life to the fullest, without worries and unrewarding chores? How long can you continue to thrive in the future without relying more and more on friends and family? If you could, wouldn’t you trade countless years of needless worry, for priceless peace of mind? “A lot of the things that my children were concerned about – my safety and my living in a large house alone – those are no longer an issue at all. And I just feel at peace about this place, you know? Besides it’s just an easier way to live for me, just totally. Totally.” – Jane Lepak

A retired licensed counselor, Jane was only 70 when she became a widow and suddenly found herself in charge of a rental home and her own large residence. Unsure of all the decisions that came with her new responsibilities, she began to question the financial sense of it all. She was always writing checks for taxes and repairs and her children worried constantly about her living alone. An untimely broken arm prompted even more soul searching. “And when I went to my financial advisor he said… ‘If you do this and you make this kind of move, I’ve known other people and you’re going to feel like a bird out of a cage.’” – Jane Lepak

Jane researched several communities before deciding that The Fountains had the setting and the spacious living quarters she was looking for, including a kitchen she rarely uses but loves having. “I redid the whole place and it’s just beautiful. It really is. It fits me you know? It’s the colors I love and it’s the things I love… I’ve remodeled but this is like building your own little place. I have a million dollar view and that’s what I call it, the view out to the lake… It just almost makes you have goosebumps at sunset.” – Jane Lepak
